Namaste. February 21 is International Yoga Day 🧘🏻♀️ 🧘♂️ 🧘, a day that celebrates the physical and spiritual expertise brought to many all over the globe. Yoga is much more than a great source of exercise, but a way to connect the mind and body through a series of asanas (postures).
This ancient practice has been around for centuries, originating 5000 years ago in India 🇮🇳. The idea of International Yoga Day was put forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech at the UN General Assembly back in 2014, where a decision was made to establish June 21 (Summer Solstice) as International Yoga Day by India’s Ambassador, Asoke Kumar Mukerji. Since June 21, 2015, the day has been celebrated all over the world.
So let’s unroll our mats, take some deep breaths and practice our downward dog along with some other favorite poses to celebrate what the body can do.
